1. Contexto Resumido da Instituição

O CENMED “Santa Madre Teresa de Calcutá” é uma instituição particular de saúde de utilidade pública, criada em 20 de janeiro de 1997, por iniciativa de casais guineenses residentes em Bissau.

Inicialmente, estruturou um conjunto de serviços de cuidados de saúde integrados em regime de ambulatório, que, ao longo do tempo, evoluíram para serviços mais especializados. Esta transformação consolidou o CENMED como uma instituição privada de referência na área da saúde em Guiné-Bissau.

A instituição é legalmente constituída, regendo-se por estatutos próprios e por um regulamento interno que define as linhas gerais de funcionamento das suas estruturas administrativas e técnicas, em conformidade com a liderança e organograma institucional.

3. Expansão e Parcerias

Atualmente, o CENMED reinicia suas atividades em novas instalações, equipadas com meios técnicos modernos e mobiliário adquirido com fundos próprios. Para assegurar a qualidade da assistência, está em curso a mobilização de novos profissionais e a consolidação de parcerias estratégicas.

Em cooperação com instituições privadas de ensino de Bissau, o CENMED desenvolve projetos médico-sociais voltados para a saúde escolar, promovendo cuidados preventivos e o acompanhamento de doenças crónicas e fatores de risco entre alunos e docentes da comunidade educativa.

4. Estratégias Interventivas

Para responder às crescentes demandas por cuidados de saúde qualificados, o CENMED desenvolveu iniciativas de caráter médico-social, entre as quais:

  1. Rede Urbana de Saúde Escolar (REUSE 1)
    Criada em 2021, inicialmente em instituições privadas de ensino em Bissau, como a Escola Primária Católica “Professor José de Souza” e o Centro de Instrução e Formação Artesanal e Profissional – CIFAP.

  2. Associação Guineense de Asmáticos – AGUIAS
    Estruturada com estatutos próprios, tem como objetivo oferecer assistência segura e qualificada a pessoas asmáticas, em articulação com diferentes estruturas de saúde no país.
